Vintage Matco Ratchet Repair

I Bought this vintage Matco 3/8 in ratchet at a local used tool shop. upon intial inspection the mechanism was loose in the head and the drive selection was difficult to actuate but I knew that Matco was a reputable brand and I was intrigued by the idea of trying to fix it myself. As I disassembled it I carefully documented the process and then de-greased all of the parts. I determined that the years of use in the ratchet had worn down the shoulders in the head of the ratchet so it was no longer a snug fit. A slim brass washer inserted under the snap ring did the trick and I look forward to using this tool for a long time.
